Ask the Experts. FAQ.

• How long does a furnace and air conditioner last?
The average furnace and air conditioner life span in Minnesota is 12-20 years. This statistic depends on how the equipment has been maintained and the initial quality of both the equipment and the installation.
• Do I need to have my furnace and a/c serviced every year?
Anything mechanical lasts longer if you take care of it. Annual maintenance not only extends the life of your equipment, it keeps it operating at its peak efficiency.
• How often should I change the filter on my forced air heating system?
It depends what type of filter you are using and how much activity you have in your home. If a filter is not changed often enough you can shorten the life span of your furnace and a/c or shut the system down due to poor airflow.
• Do I need a humidifier in my home?
The average home in Minnesota will range anywhere from 13-20% humidity without a humidifier. The ideal humidity level for comfort during the heating season is 30-35%. For comparison sake, most deserts have humidity levels of 23-25%.
• What are the Federal Tax Credits that I have heard about?
Taxpayers can receive a tax credit for 30% of the purchase price, up to $1500, on qualifying equipment. Call us for details on what qualifies for this credit.
