Ask the Experts. FAQ.
- • How long does a furnace and air conditioner last?
- The average furnace and air conditioner life span in Minnesota is 12-20 years. This statistic depends on how the equipment has been maintained and the initial quality of both the equipment and the installation.
- • Do I need to have my furnace and a/c serviced every year?
- Anything mechanical lasts longer if you take care of it. Annual maintenance not only extends the life of your equipment, it keeps it operating at its peak efficiency.
- • How often should I change the filter on my forced air heating system?
- It depends what type of filter you are using and how much activity you have in your home. If a filter is not changed often enough you can shorten the life span of your furnace and a/c or shut the system down due to poor airflow.
- • Do I need a humidifier in my home?
- The average home in Minnesota will range anywhere from 13-20% humidity without a humidifier. The ideal humidity level for comfort during the heating season is 30-35%. For comparison sake, most deserts have humidity levels of 23-25%.
- • What are the Federal Tax Credits that I have heard about?
- Taxpayers can receive a tax credit for 30% of the purchase price, up to $1500, on qualifying equipment. Call us for details on what qualifies for this credit.
